TIP of the Month: Live Cam at Hanauma Bay

What is Firewise?

Recognition by Firewise USA that our community has organized and come up with a plan to be as fire resistant and resilient as possible.

It’s an opportunity to keep our homes, friends and neighbors safe. From reducing wildfire vegetation via regular maintenance to knowing who might need a helping hand in your building in the case of and emergency. It’s being proactive in looking out for our homes and KCW ohana.

Update – January 2026

We started 2026 planting grass behind bldg 360. Landscape Hawaii helped clear the area and put in a layer of topsoil to make planting day easier.  Despite not so great tools, we still managed to cut about 200 grass plugs! The Francisco’s have been working really hard and the grass and native plants are thriving! KCW fresh poi coming soon! 

Thank you to our community for your hard work and continued support We easily surpassed our volunteer hours for 2025 and are excited for the 2026 activites!

Our Action Plan was submitted in August 2025 and was approved by the National Fire Protection Assocation (NFPA) in October 2025.

Update September 2025
Backyard Bento

Thank you to everyone that joined us for a fun afternoon neighborhood pā’ina with pupus, drinks and bentos, pickleball and cornhole! We look forward to getting together again soon!

Update – July 2025

A big mahalo to everyone for making our first Firewise workday event a success this past May. We easily surpassed our volunteer hours for 2025 and cleared roughly 10.5 cubic yards of green waste. Great job and check back here for updates later this year.

Our Action Plan was recently submitted and is pending approval.
